Research and Development (R&D) in Europe is responsible for the planning, the development and the production of attractive, superior quality cars matching European customers and market requirements.
TME Evaluation departments' responsibilities are:
- Validation of local developed powertrains before introduction to the market. We ensure the design is adapted and fit to European customers' expectations and European suppliers' production methods. This activity is done in close cooperation with our local suppliers and Toyota Motor Corporation (TMC) in Japan.
- Investigation of new European technologies and evaluation methodologies through technical and performance benchmarking and research.
Your responsibilities
You improve TOYOTA Powertrains for the European market, being part of the further electrification of our line-up. As engineer in the Evaluation department, you will be mainly responsible for high voltage batteries and support other electrification components. You will contribute to the successful validation. You:
- Review new components with designers and decide evaluation strategy based on risk analysis
- Plan the required evaluations and tests towards production preparation
- Organise and execute the evaluation in close cooperation with technicians in test facilities
- Analyse and judge test results and initiate the investigation of solutions in case of problems
- Summarise and communicate to the project team and management
- Study new European technologies, investigating their performance gains and making recommendations towards future usage.

- Design & evaluation of Powertrain components (engine, motor, transmission, battery and related parts). The team’s task is to improve the powertrain system in order to optimize efficiency and energy consumption, cost, weight of vehicles as well as improving their drivability.
- Local development of Powertrain parts for vehicles built in one of Toyota's European assembly plants. This activity is done in close cooperation with our local suppliers and our mother divisions in Toyota Motor Corporation (TMC) in Japan. TMC relies on us to develop components that are matching European customers' expectations and European suppliers' production methods.
- Support the shift to electrification by investigating European trends for e-Axles and components.
Your responsibilities
- The development of Powertrain components, with focus on e-Axles for Electric vehicles (parts such as gears, bearings, shafts, lubrication, e-motor related parts,… ) :
- During the prototype phase, you drive the development process of local-developed parts, collaborating with external European suppliers. You need strong engineering skills to support the suppliers in their development. You’ll need to have close communication with them on a regular base and be able to make technical assessment of their proposed ideas. You make sure the development is finished in time and meets all Toyota's requirements. For parts developed in Japan, you are the liaison between our mother divisions in TMC and other European parties (assembly plants, suppliers)
- During the production preparation, you make sure production parts achieve expected performance levels and support the plant in the assembly of your components.
- To investigate new European advanced technologies in the area of e-drive systems. You will research upcoming EU technologies, initiate pre-development studies, and propose the technology for application in Toyota’s future vehicle.

Your responsibilities
You will contribute to TOYOTA Powertrain system improvement for European market and support the shift to electrification. As engineer in Powertrain design div., your main responsibility will be:
1) The development of Powertrain components, with focus on charging, for Hybrid and Electric vehicles:
- During the prototype phase, you drive the development process of locally-developed parts. You need strong engineering skills to support the suppliers in their development. You make sure the development is finished on time and meets all Toyota's requirements. For parts developed in Japan, you are the liaison between our mother divisions in TMC and other European parties (assembly plants, suppliers)

Team description
Located just outside Brussels is our European Distribution Centre in Diest called Toyota Parts Centre Europe (TPCE) employing 930 people. It is responsible for the procurement, storage and logistics supply of a dedicated range of Toyota/Lexus spare parts, accessories and technical campaign parts supporting the both the new car sales and existing customer vehicles service and warranty needs.
The Diest facility itself receives parts from over 700 different suppliers (from Japan to local suppliers) managing over 250,000 part numbers and >150 trucks per day in a dedicated 100,000m2 facility. It’s 2 outbound logistics roles covers; providing direct overnight supply to >600 Toyota dealers in local region, and supporting the 13 European Regional Distribution Centres to ensure a consistent high level of Just In Time service to all National Marketing & Sales Companies and Toyota dealers within Europe and our final customers beyond.
Your responsibilities
- Responsible for the procurement and inventory control of parts and accessories sourced from local suppliers.
- Analyze stock and service levels. Initiate necessary improvement actions to meet our customers’ service expectation in line with targets for key KPI’s:
- Follow up allocation Service Rate to Toyota customers
- Solve backorders to Toyota customers
- Respond to customer complaints in a professional way
- Improve supplier performance. Create & follow up actions plans with supplier to cover any gap to target, using the TPS (Toyota Production System) philosophy and Toyota problem solving approach:
- Create/map/review & improve processes
- Understand abnormalities caused by supplier in our warehouse. Visit supplier to understand rootcause, to find countermeasures, to improve process to avoid recurrence, to support in creation of standards.
- Ensure availability of parts to European Markets through regional locations and beyond to the end customer, for both current and future models of Toyota and Lexus vehicles.
