Team/division description

 

  • Material Engineering division (MED) widely contributes to Toyota development activities from vehicle development projects to fundamental research.
  • Metallic Materials Team is responsible for development & homologation of metallic materials used in vehicle body, chassis, and powertrain; aiming improvement of lightweighting, quality, productivity, environmental impact and competitiveness. Close communication with our suppliers & other teams from Design, Production, Quality, Purchasing, and Production Plant is a key element to achieve our targets.
  • The Paint Design group in MED is responsible for developing and implementing innovative paint solutions for our vehicles. Our team focuses on creating advanced paint systems that meet both aesthetic and functional requirements, ensuring they meet Toyota’s standards of quality and performance. We collaborate closely with various departments within R&D, production, and quality assurance, to seamlessly integrate paint systems into the overall vehicle design and manufacturing process.

 

 

Your responsibilities

 

  • Design, develop & homologate metallic materials & paint systems for new vehicle projects, ensuring compliance with TME's quality standards and specifications.
  • Manage metallic materials & paint-related projects from concept to implementation, including supplier audit, follow-up and key milestone tracking.
  • Collaborate with other TME divisions (technical & commercial) and EMCs (production plants) to ensure seamless introduction of metallic materials & paint systems in the manufacturing process.
  • Support root-cause investigation and countermeasure implementation for material related issues.
  • Actively propose and implement cost reduction and kaizen activities.

For TME Graduate positions we are targeting recent University Graduates (less than 18 months of experience excluding internships)

  • You are fluent in English (TME’s business language)
  • You are a career starter (less than 18 months of experience excluding internships)
  • You have a master’s degree in Material Engineering, Chemical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or a related field
  • You have basic knowledge of paint chemistry and are familiar with different types of paint systems
  • You have basic knowledge of metallic materials, characterization of metallic materials and production processes (metallic material and/or part)
  • You have basic experience to work in a lab environment, particularly with sample preparation, microscopy and mechanical testing.
  • You have good communication & project management skills
  • You are open to travel (~10% of your time)
