Team description
The R&D Innovation team within IT Engineering Business Unit connects Toyota’s product development community with IT specialists and partners to shape and deliver digital solutions that improve engineering processes and capabilities. We focus on strategic platforms and transformation topics such as product lifecycle management, model-based systems engineering, process front-loading, system modernisation and homologation. Acting as a trusted partner to R&D, we align business needs, technology choices and delivery priorities across a broad portfolio of initiatives.
Your responsibilities
Manage IT solutions for R&D across their lifecycle, from demand through feasibility, implementation and handover to application support team, to run and modernisation, following Toyota's project governance framework. Business owns the why, what and merit of each initiative; you own the how, cost and plan.
Act as a sparring partner to R&D product owners and business analysts. Clarify problems, expected merit and processes using Toyota Business Practices (TBP). Make sure business requirements are good enough, and coordinate their breakdown into technical requirements and supplier work plans.
Turn each initiative into a building block, or an investigation, towards a longer-term transformation goal agreed with the business. The aim is to release part of the merit as early as possible and to reuse shared IT platforms.
Coordinate solution architects, Core IT, suppliers and Purchasing to get an approved, secure and maintainable solution. Manage plan, budget (forecast and actuals), risks and quality, and make sure each solution has a clear support model and handover before go-live.
Keep status, decisions, risks and deliverables traceable in Jira and Confluence. Contribute to portfolio transparency, lessons learned and continuous improvement.
We welcome early-career candidates, including recent graduates and applicants who already have some relevant working experience.
You hold a university degree in engineering, computer science, information technology, business engineering or a related field, and are fluent in English.
You combine an understanding of product development or engineering processes with strong IT capabilities. Alternatively, you have an IT background with exposure to an engineering environment.
You have initial experience in project or solution delivery, business analysis, or solution design, through employment, internships or academic projects.
You are curious about how engineers work, structure ambiguous topics, challenge constructively, communicate clearly and take ownership beyond your own tasks. You are eager to learn structured problem-solving (PDCA, TBP) and to grow towards programme management or solution architecture design.
Experience with Jira and Confluence, requirements management, using AI and automation to work more efficiently is strongly valued.
You are familiar with the following IT concepts:
Software development lifecycle (SDLC) and agile/waterfall delivery models
Cloud concepts and enterprise architecture principles
Cybersecurity and privacy constraints
Application lifecycle management, CI/CD and service transition to operations
AI-assisted software development, generative AI and automation platforms
You have an understanding of engineering practices such as CAD and CAE.
We offer a dynamic multicultural work environment with broad opportunities to learn every day and exciting career pathways that help you explore different disciplines or areas of expertise.
Your benefits:
At Toyota Motor Europe, we are committed to providing equal employment opportunities for everyone. Our recruitment decisions are based on everyone’s skills, experience, and the requirements of the role.
We welcome people of all backgrounds, including different nationalities, sexual orientations, gender identities or expressions, ages, religions, ethnicities, abilities, and other personal characteristics.
